Morning light spilled across the bed like real life got switched to high definition. Pale gold sliced through the blinds, painting slow-moving lines across Rhett’s back. I blinked against the light, disoriented for a second, until I realized we were still here, still wrapped in each other like it had always been this way. Relaxed, exciting, and quietly overwhelming.

His arm was slung across my chest, warm and heavy, our legs a knotted mess under the thin sheet. His breath tickled my shoulder, soft and even, a rhythm that felt like comfort. I didn’t want to move. Not just because I was comfortable, but because everything about this felt too delicate to disrupt. His skin on mine, the weight of him, the quiet that I didn’t want to disturb.

I turned my head slightly and found him already watching me. Those eyes, that impossible mix of hazel and gold, studied me like he wasn’t entirely sure I was real.

"Good morning," he murmured, his voice still heavy with sleep, a small smile spreading on those perfect lips.

"Morning."

He leaned in and pressed his lips to mine. It wasn’t a kiss that expected anything, more of a confirmation that this happened and it was real. His mouth moved slowly over mine, and I responded with equal weight. There was no rush, or frantic grab. Just a warmth with tongues meeting softly, lips sliding, mouths learning the lines of each other in that lazy, early light.
